Study Abroad This Summer

Why Study Abroad During the Summer?

Students often look into summer study abroad programs because they don't have space in their academic plans to do a semester abroad, or because they are looking for a more affordable way to go abroad. Studying abroad during the summer offers the opportunity to gain new perspectives about a country while enjoying academic, career, intercultural, and personal growth.

Whether you study the Mediterranean diet in Florence, Spanish in Cusco, or Business in Hong Kong, there’s no better time to immerse yourself in a new culture, gain a new perspective on your world, and enhance your academics. Choose from dozens of quality options all over the world!

UConn offers many affordable study abroad opportunities. Did you know that taking six credits and signing up for housing and a meal plan over the summer in Storrs can cost between $5,000 and $7,000? A typical UConn summer study abroad program costs between $4,000 and $6,000.  Many scholarship opportunities are available to help further defray the cost!

How to Learn More

UConn Education Abroad offers Education Abroad 101 presentations every week! These presentations are your first step towards studying abroad. This is your chance to learn how the process works at UConn, how much it costs, and where you can go. Education Abroad 101's run every Tuesday from 1 to 2pm in Gentry 119E and every Wednesday from 5-6pm in Gentry 101. You can also watch the presentation online any time.

Education Abroad also offers many program-specific information sessions. Visit our events calendar on our homepage to see what is coming up!

Education Abroad Advisors are available to meet with you at any point during the application and pre-departure process. Schedule an appointment after attending an Education Abroad 101 and narrowing down your program choices.

Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for most summer study abroad programs is March 15. Be sure to visit the Details tab on the page of your program of interest to confirm as a few programs may have earlier deadlines.
