Incoming Exchange Students

 

 

Hello and welcome prospective exchange students to the state of Connecticut and our main campus in Storrs!

UConn, as we call it, is ranked among the top 20 public universities in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report, the University of Connecticut (UConn) enrolls approximately 18,000 undergraduate students at UConn’s main campus in Storrs. Exchange students study at the main campus in Storrs, which offers state-of-the art research, living, and recreational facilities in the heart of New England. Campus life includes a vibrant student union, a host of volunteer opportunities and over 400 social, sport, hobby, travel and religious clubs.

UConn Storrs is located in the rolling hills of northeastern Connecticut, 3 hours from New York, 1.5 hours from Boston and 1 hour from Providence, Rhode Island. Hartford, the capital of Connecticut, is only 30 minutes from the campus and offers numerous cultural, athletic, and social attractions.

Once you have applied and been nominated through your home institution, you will be required to complete the online application process for the University of Connecticut. Application instructions will be provided to you in an email once you have been nominated by your home institution.

As part of the online application you will be instructed to complete/upload the following documents:

  • Application Questionnaire
  • Official TOEFL/IELTS score report
  • Personal statement (minimum 500 words)
  • Copy of your passport
  • Course preference Form
  • Official transcript

Academics Requirements
  • Minimum of a 3.0 on a 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) scale or equivalent
  • Completed 2 semester as a full time student at your home university
English Proficiency
  • TOEFL IBT: 79 total score and minimum of 19 in each subsection (writing, speaking, reading and listening)
  • IELTS: 6.5 total score and minimum of 6.5 is each subsection
