Upon acceptance, the Education Abroad Office will send you an Exchange Student Pre-Arrival Guide. The guidebook provides information related to travel and transportation, housing, meal plans, payment of fees, health insurance, campus life as well as other helpful resources to assist you in preparation for your time at UConn.
The Incoming Exchange Orientation will introduce you to your new home. Orientation will cover academics, the student code of conduct, housing, immigration, health and safety, campus life and adjusting to American culture. You will also have the opportunity to meet other exchange and UConn students.
Exchange students accepted for the Spring 2018 or Calendar Year 2018 are required to arrive on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Mandatory orientation will take place on Monday, January 15, 2018. On-campus housing will not be available before January 14th. Check-in will take place in the Lewis B. Rome Commons (South Campus) between 9am – 7pm on January 14th. Getting to Storrs, CT
UConn is located between New York City, New York and Boston, Massachusetts. If you fly into either city, there are buses to campus. Most students take the Peter Pan bus from New York City’s Port Authority Terminal. Peter Pan also offers service from Boston’s Logan Airport or South Station. Alternatively, some students fly into Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT which is located approximately 35 miles from the UConn Storrs campus. Shuttle service to campus from Bradley Airport is available through UConn for flight arrivals between the hours of 7AM-10PM.
Advance online reservation and payment for buses and shuttles is required. Exchange students arriving by Peter Pan Bus to the Storrs campus are encouraged to purchase online tickets as early as possible to ensure space. Students who wait to purchase a bus ticket may discover the bus is sold out and alternative options to arrive at Storrs are few and considerably more expensive than the bus. Please book early to avoid any issues.
